Melissa Fellner lives and makes art in Taos, New Mexico. A native Floridian, Melissa graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BFA in drawing and printmaking. She received her MFA in Printmaking from Tyler School of Art, (Temple University), in Philadelphia where she taught etching for a year and her second year studied in Rome, Italy at Temple University Abroad where she was the technical assistant in the print shop and finished her thesis. She was visiting artist in Rome, Philadelphia, Los Angeles. Melissa resided in Baltimore where she had shown extensively on the east coast until she moved to Taos in 2003. Melissa shows at the Meredith Gallery in Baltimore with a show coming up in November 2007. Melissa is currently a guest artist at the Envision Gallery in Taos.
Melissa's unique process of creating starts with small drawings she calls "thoughts." These thoughts are evolved through a process by letting color come to her intuitively. The combination with line, color, and imagery documents a living journey of thoughts and ideas of Melissa's experiences. Melissa enlarges her drawings into oil paintings where the luminosity, pureness, and boldness of the oil emphasize her inner thoughts and experiences.
